Moon days are the days every month on which the new moon and the full moon occur. Many Ashtanga practitioners choose to take these days to rest and recover.
Ashtanga is a very athletic form of yoga. We push our muscles almost daily. The moon days remind us to slow down and and turn inward in order to remain attuned to the natural cycles and rhythms of nature, and as a means to live in greater harmony with it.
